Dear Friends and Attendees,
Unfortunately, today we have to announce that due to the adverse weather situation Koenig-Ludwig-Lauf (KLL) 2020 cannot be held. The last few weeks have given little to no precipitation and the average temperature, measured from November to January, was 5 degrees Celsius above the normal value. The long-term forecasts also do not herald any further substantial snowfall or significant weather changes.
The König Ludwig SuperSprint on 31.01.2020 will take place as planned.
Since the KLL leads through one of the largest contiguous nature reserves in Europe, and we are committed to preserve it for future generations, we can only bring artificial snow on paved paths and roads. We are obleFor us nature conservation, sustainability and the promotion of popular sports have priority over the commercial gain of a huge sports event.
KLL is a traditional event, which is characterized by a unique landscape, Bavarian cosiness and professionalism. We would like to preserve this feeling for you rather than forcing with force an event that would likely turn out to be unsatisfactory for all participants. It is an uncomfortable situation for us taking into account that 75% of all expenses for the event have already been spent and a year with hundreds of working hours by many volunteers is wasted.
Our hopes are that you remain loyal to us and join us again in 2021.
On our website we provide forms to either transfer your starting fee to KLL 2021 or request a repayment of 50% of the paid 2020 starting fee (reduced by bank and transfer costs). This offer is valid until March 1st, 2020.
We keep on working that this traditional event will continue for many years to come. And we would be happy to welcome you to KLL 2021 in Oberammergau on 6-7 February 2021.
Thank you for understanding and warmest regards from the Ammergau Alps Nature Park
Still highly motivated,
König Ludwig Lauf Team
